The Basic Idea

Tattoo ink sits deep. It's trapped inside cells and fibrous tissue, way below the surface where creams and peels can't reach. A Q‑switched Nd:YAG laser solves this by punching energy into the skin in billionths of a second. The ink particles shatter like glass hit with a hammer, and the body's lymphatic system slowly carries the fragments away over the next few weeks. No burning of the surface. No open wound.

Benomi's take on this technology stuffs four wavelengths into one compact console: 532 nm for reds, oranges, and warm cosmetic pigments; 1064 nm for black, dark blue, and brown; 1320 nm for carbon peel facials; and an optional 755 nm for the stubborn greens and sky blues that sometimes survive the other wavelengths. Six different heads come with the kit. Four are fixed at their optimal spot size. Two let you twist the collar to narrow or widen the beam from a pinpoint up to a broader circle, which is handy when you need to trace a fine eyebrow line and then fill a solid black band around an arm.

There's also a picosecond mode on one of the heads. The shorter the pulse, the more the ink breaks mechanically rather than thermally. Colours that used to take eight or ten sessions of a standard nanosecond laser can clear in four or five with the picosecond, especially dark blues and blacks.

Things You Notice After a Week

532 nm and 1064 nm cover the bulk of what walks in the door. 532 nm for the pink lip liner, the orange butterfly, the red rose. 1064 nm for the black tribal work, the dark‑blue script, the brown cosmetic brows. Between the two, you can handle most tattoo colours without reaching for another machine.

Carbon peels bring in a different clientele. The 1320 nm head, plus a bottle of liquid carbon, turns the tattoo laser into a facial treatment. Paint the carbon on, let it dry, and then pulse the laser over it. The carbon explodes off the skin, taking dead cells, blackheads, and surface oil with it. The result is instantly brighter skin. The picosecond head shortens courses. Deep black ink that would normally take eight nanosecond sessions can sometimes clear in five. It's not magic-white and yellow still resist-but for blues and black, the difference is real.

Questions That Come Up Often

Does it hurt?
Most people describe it as a quick, hot snap like a rubber band. The pulse is so fast it's over before you flinch. For larger tattoos, numbing cream helps. The carbon peel doesn't hurt at all-it's just a gentle warmth.

How many sessions to clear a tattoo?
A dense black professional tattoo takes four to eight sessions on average, spaced six to eight weeks apart. Red and orange often clear in four to six. White and yellow are stubborn on any laser. Cosmetic tattoos, which often contain flesh‑toned pigments, can be unpredictable and may need more sessions.

Do I need the 755 nm head?
It's optional. 1064 nm handles most black and dark‑blue ink. But if you regularly see green, teal, or sky‑blue tattoos, the 755 nm wavelength will clear them faster. It also works well on fine lines and mild scar revision.

Is this safe on dark skin?
The 1064 nm wavelength is safe for Fitzpatrick types IV–VI because it passes through melanin without being strongly absorbed. The 532 nm should be used cautiously on darker skin, always with a test patch first. The carbon peel is safe on all skin tones.

How do I clean the machine between clients?
Wipe the handpiece body with a soft disinfectant cloth. The carbon peel lens should be cleaned after every use-carbon residue can build up and reduce the beam quality. The adjustable collar should be kept free of debris so it turns smoothly.

Can I do a carbon peel and a tattoo treatment on the same day?
